~A Holiday I Get Excited About~

Second only to Christmas, Independence Day is my favorite holiday.
July 4th just makes me happy.
And so incredibly grateful.
In fact, weird as it may be, I'm nearly brought to tears at the end of the fireworks show every year.
It's the sound, I think.
It's always so loud and I wonder if it's much different in war.
All those guys before me who have spent sleepless nights in fox holes, enduring whistling rockets overhead or explosions nearby, made it possible for me to not be terrified by very similar sounds.

It's barbecue and flags.
It's my Daddy's Marine Corp Band marching music playing all day.
To my kids, it's our flag's birthday and a really good reason to get excited and throw those little popper things. They just learned they can snap them and not burn their fingers.....should be a great 4th.

~13 Years~

13 years ago have gone by way too fast.
Thanks to my family, we were able to sneak away to one of my favorite places for a long weekend.
It may very well have been the most fun I've ever had.

I love everything old.
Brad loves good food.
We both love cozy.
Charleston made perfect sense.

After we'd been home a few hours, Brad looked at me and said, "I miss you."
Having time be all our own, emphasized how crazy our current real life is. We had hours in the car and on the way back I said, "You know, this trip has made me realize we are going to be just fine with the kids are gone. We will actually have a whole LOT of fun!"
Not that it's not fun now, because I do love all the noise, laughter, fights, and hugs. It's just time and seasons....:)

We laughed almost constantly.
We did a little window shopping. There is no point even going in a Louis Vuitton store. So we just looked.
I DID, however, go in a couple high end consignment stores where I saw a pair of Prada shoes for the bargain  price of $599.
There was no schedule. We ate at weird times.
One day we took a 2:00 nap.

We caught a 9:45 pm showing of Robinhood complete with popcorn and Coke.
The seafood was amazing.
The plantations were fascinating.
The four and five hundred year old oaks were breath taking.

I was trying to do the thing where it looks like you're holding whatever is in the background. I soon realized I was standing way too close!

~Tie~

I bought this tie about three years ago off a clearance rack for $2.97. Got a chance to have him wear it for the first time this weekend. At one point, during the wedding, he looked at me, fingers tugging at his neck, and mouthed, "I'M CHOKING!".

Happy Tuesday!

Just Pics

I have nothing to say....except I'm thrilled it's summer.
Brad is home unusually early, it's about to rain, I have some Dove dark chocolate and a husband who is cooking chicken marsala for me tonight.
Here are a few shots from Memorial Day weekend. It was a good one.
